welcome to our new abode.

Rinse!Blog is now operating out of the same house.
We have moved residence, and the house is slammin' everything independant living should be and even has a great smoking porch for those cancer sticks in the rain. brilliant! soo expect some blogposts on the goings on of four friends living in close quarters and the joys that this brings.

rinse!blog highly reccommends getting your own place.

mi casa su casa mes amis!
this is ma' house!

wheres my straight crew?

ok so i shall start with READING FESTIVAL 20009
waw. what can I say. for months i have heard and people have been banging on about the mystical weekender of August bank holiday. and how epic it is going to be. me being ticketless up until recently, shunned this train of thought right off its tracks and failed to qualify why i would spend a quarter of a grand to go see a few bands for the weekend and camp in a field. my mind was soon to changed once i had won a ticket on ebay and was now lookin' at the countdown clock with anticipation... it was nearly here!

soo we'll hit the fastforward on the casette and its thursday the twenty seventh of august. it is sickeningly early in the morning and i am outside with a mornin brew of coffee and having the first cigarette of the day. things were feelin groggy to say the least after only managing a grand total of two hours sleep "urhh..." but we headed off to meet the rest of the guys to catch the bus. we (me and the driver) rendezvous'd at a carpark and waited for the rest of the guys to arrive along with the minibuss... ahh the excite ment. so much so was the excitement boilin up inside the driver's body that he felt the need to do the most rediculous and irresponsible reverse exit out of the carpark only to take out a brick wall in the proccess.. yes a weekend of carnage and debauchery had allready started. soo there it was one written off car, and time for the second cigarette of the day (hey, i'd just been involved in a bloody car crash. i needed it) haha so then we all bundled into the minibus and off we went to reading, luckily without any further hitches.

i was aboard with a load of local rapscallians while the other half of rinse!blog crew was boarding the coach where we'd meet him at reading base camp. soo the bus was interesting, i mean smoking a couple of bifftas while travelling on the motorway was a very bizzarre experience in itself. and then after a pisstop at leigh delemare we arrived. to be greated by a massive lugg downn the canal towpath and we were there! in the festival. and lookin for a pitch for the weekend.

the place was heavin, we thought we got there fairly early but obviously our commitment to camping had let us down as thousands of eager music scouts had allready set up and we were left to douse down many fields away from the entrance. what a trek.

anyway thats enough background. i was allready trashed from the bus journey up so once the tent was pitched it was time to get back on my game. by this time the other half joins the adventure and we can't wait to get on the carnage bandwagon. and boy do we ever.

so thursday was spent, pitchin tents smoking alot of drugs and drinking alot of alcohol... slowly easing ourselves into the lives we were to live over the weekend. and what a great one it was to be. we would be like kings (or so we felt for four days) no music on thursday, so we ajourned at an ungodly hour to our den of eniquity (argos £29.99 - 3 persons tent ) ready for fridays offerings.

Friday bought us a host of music and a brief downpour of rain; highlights of which we saw were;
Dananananaykroyd (kickin off preceedings in the nme tent) - mixed reviews amongst our group but the rinse blog guys were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed their set, a good opener to the weekend. next two on the bill Ghost of a Thousand bringing down the hammer and throwing a pretty damn good show. being well oiled by now and feeling the music i was very impressed - the first time i had heard anything by these guys. so that was that. a big thumbs up so far from what reading had to offer. so by now the rain had subsided and it was more cigarettes, and alcohol before trundling off to the next tent to see the Horrors the guys that were robbed at the recent mercury prize awards, if the judges had been here for their set they would not have been giving any to thought to some scally rapper from the east end. this suave five piece from southend put on another spectacle in their dapper suits. the crowd went off and rightly so. soo following on from an epic show from the horrors came a trek across to the mainstage to catch the first of two appearences of Alexisonfire. waw. great. and pretty damn fuckin' good. i couldn't wait to catch my second dose of these canadian bastards later on in the more intimate lockup tent. So on a bit of a hardcore comedown and flaggin alittle around the sides it was time to be serenaded by the red head siren that is Florence and the Machine. consider my socks well and truly blown off. happy belated birthday from rinse! by the way miss welsch. you fully performed to beyond my expectations. flawless, full of energy and fuckin'fantastic. so yeh. not bad. the time in the day had come to lay low for a while after a hectic few hours so we returned to the tent to refuel on more drugs and strap up on alcohol before going back to catch the Kings of Leon which much to my surprise were very good. i wasn't expecting much. but they played alot of their older stuff and by now i was so up on illegal substances they could have played a rendition of Gina G's eurovision attempts and it would have been aural pleasure all round i'd imagine. soo that was friday... after the headliners had finished hourds of people piled out of the arena towards to campsite for a night filled with reckless abandon. lovely. just in time for tea.

so i'll save the full review of the saturday but just to say it was a massive step up from the great lineup of friday. so you can imagine how good it was. saturday brought about;
Pulled Apart By Horses a great opener to saturday, and a after a bottle of jager on the spot i decided it to be a great idea to throwdown although I looked a little excessive when I dropkicked a guy in the head (it was only just gone 12 in the afternoon! - sorry kids!)
Metric, The Rakes, The Maccabees, The Prodigy (just waw. soo good. soo much action. soo much pain. *****)and the Arctic Monkeys

sunday came around and it seemed to have come around much too quickly. we had allready seen a great host of bands and had a fuckin' good time doing it. but we wanted more (greedy i know) but it was the last day and sunday the day of rest (yeh right) kicked off with
3oh!3 and for the record "i'm still not your fuckin' boyfriend!" followed by Lethal Bizzle "pow!" Frank Turner (we were outside lounging in the grass while he insisted on folking it up in my ears. just fuck off!) Metronomy, Crystal Castles (just mindblowing), Brand New,
YeahYeahYeahs, Bloc Party, Rumblestrips, Lightspeed Champion, La Roux, and Radiohead. We had split by the later half of bloc party, i'd retired to catch the la roux experience only to catch rumbles and lightspeed champion in the process, while the other one stayed to catch the great headliners radiohead. On comparison both were personally on parr with each other (im blatantly biased as i much prefer la roux) haha! but nope. that was it the weekend of music was over. i was again absolutely trashed and all out of tobacco. however now moneyless. i was in need of a very large cigarette. so the music was done. the people wanted more. cue the riots. once everyone decended back into the squalid confines of the campsite all hell broke loose. walking around drinking scrounged white wine and smoking the last dreggs of our illegal substances it looked reminiscent of a scene out of armageddon or terminator with fires and smoke filling the eye-line. it was grotesquely beeautiful and desceivingly serene.

so there it is. reading weekend.
drugs, booze, cigarettes, a host of good music and a big riot to end it all.

best bands of the weekend: chosen between us include:
  • the prodigy
  • crystal castles
  • alexisonfire
  • radiohead
  • la roux
  • metronomy

all in all a rediculously good weekend, well worth paying over the face value for. now a long bus journey home ahead followed by a comedown of epic proportions through monday. thank god for being off work is all i haveto say.

"Kariiim!! Straight enn!"

long time no post.

well as you have gathered. updates on the rinse!blog blogspot have been very thin on the ground lately, this is not to say not much has been going down. infact its been quite the opposite.

time off work due to injury, reading festival, live muse comeback gigs, guestlist throats gigs, moving house, becoming broke, living under the poverty line, and wrecking it up for days on end in our new abode. yes. all that in a little under 3 weeks is pretty good going i would say.

i'm going to try and clear the backlog. so here goes. kshhh aaaaaaah. (thats the sound of a cold beer being opened and a deep breath entering my lungal organs.

holdtight my update crew.

Careful Kids

A word of warning from a currently one handed blogg writer.
Hot frying pans full of oil are dangerous!
and should be used with great caution.

note to self, do not pour smoking hot oil all over your hands and arms
it will burn alot. and cause alot of pain.

bonuses to this activity include
free morphine, time off work, and a kickass bandage that makes me look like a boxer.

RINSE! blog does not condone burning of oneself in order to skiive or otherwise cheat your
way out of work, or the purposely injuring of oneself in order to gain access to free opiates
on the nhs.

its not big and its not clever.

stay safe kids. stay out of the kitchen! x

FIVE DAYS

yes.. the countdown is officially on. less than a week now until a stormer
of a weekender to be heading in Reading Festival my friends. Oh yes..
we at RINSE! shall be larging it up, thursday through monday. so expect
some content on the throwdowns when we return.
five days motherfucker. get involved! yes

"the bbc radiophonic workshop provides a creative service (yes they do, fuck) ranging
from complete background scores of electronic music for radio and television production,
through sound for poetry and science fiction to signature tunes: periodically, complete
